The dual hitch is an excellent choice for those who own a trailer hitch bike rack or prefer not to lift bikes onto the trailer. This type of hitch provides the added benefit of being able to transport your bikes at your destination without having to take the trailer along. With a dual hitch, you can easily switch between carrying your bikes and towing a trailer without the need for extra equipment or hassle.
There are some requirements for using a dual hitch:
- You must have a 2″ receiver
- You must have either a drop down or straight hitch; a raised hitch is not compatible with a dual hitch.
- Your vehicle must be able to handle the extra tongue weight. Most vans, mid size SUV’s can, but smaller vehicles cannot.
